Situated along the Scottish Coast is a remarkable new, self-built passive project that boasts a significant glass rear elevation which seamlessly integrates with the bordering forest.
The development of this dream home was a carefully considered process, with the future occupants making long-term preparations whilst living in temporary accommodation.
It was a complex, multifaceted project with high expectations, requiring a multi-party approach in order to achieve the best results.
The customer wanted to use the best products throughout the project in order to complement the high-end aesthetics, which included features such as glass bathrooms, free-standing baths, and underfloor heating throughout
Acer Mechanical – a trusted and experienced installer of Polypipe Building Products’ underfloor heating systems – managed the installation, whilst ARDEX – an international provider of primers, adhesives, and grouts – supported with the entire floor finish, laying self-levelling compounds. Our trio of companies have a history of successful collaboration, working closely alongside one another to resolve the most difficult challenges with the best market solutions.
For this project, Polypipe Building Products put forward its Overlay Plus system, with its brand-new Enhanced Acoustic and Multi-Directional Transition panels.
Polypipe’s Overlay Plus system, which integrates end return bends for easier installation, was laid throughout the property across three floors – providing a fully dry, low-profile solution, with a thickness of 18 millimetres.
The Overlay Plus Enhanced Acoustic Panels and Multi-Directional Transition Panels were added with rebated washers and screws. These systems eliminate the need for two different materials i.e. plastic end returns, reducing gaps and waste. The Multi-Directional Transition Panels created easier pipe routing, reducing the need for additional screed.
Collaboration with ARDEX saw 10mm of K40 HB self-levelling compounds added on top of the underfloor heating system for a smooth and secure finish.
A 12kw Vaillant aroTHERM plus air-source heat pump with a 300-litre cylinder was installed and connected to the Polymer Manifolds.
The homeowners are now living in a beautiful, modern property that runs effectively and efficiently.
They are fully equipped with smart thermostats, allowing them to be in complete control of the temperature all year round, with a cooling chip enabling the heat pump to operate in reverse and provide chilled water through the property during the hotter months.
The use of the new Overlay Plus Enhanced Acoustic Panels for the upper levels has also created blissfully comfortable living conditions, dampening sound from higher points in the property.
The final result is a dream home for the end customer, with a combination of Polypipe Underfloor Heating systems, ensuring it will stand the test of time.
