A Guide to “Over the Floor” Overlay™ Underfloor Heating Systems

For existing solid or timber deck floors – Polypipe’s unique Overlay™ underfloor heating range of low profile systems are installed over the existing floor. This makes them ideal for renovation and new build, whole house and single room projects.

Overlay™ Plus

Introduced in January 2020, Polypipe’s new patented Overlay™ Plus underfloor heating panel is a low-profile system that has been designed to be installed over existing floors. It is the ideal product for new build and rennovation projects with a version also available to reduce tranmission of impact noise with an additional layer of synthetic rubber on the underside.

It has had some great feedback from installers so far thanks it’s larger panel size and light weight. Overlay Plus boards can be tiled directly onto and cut to size with a utility knife.

Overlay™

The structural nature of traditional Overlay™ makes it ideal for direct tiling or application of floor finishes which need to be fixed or screwed to the panel.

Features & Benefits of using the Overlay™ Underfloor Heating system include:

Overlay™ Lite 15

A slightly deeper profile, which can be used on top of a supporting floor or as a low profile alternative to floating floor. The system delivers the same responsive heat but is configured to be more suitable for larger, “whole house” projects.

• Low profile system (22 mm deep)
• Uses 15 mm pipe so uses fewer circuits
• No need to excavate existing floor
• Simple installation
• Suitable for multiple floor coverings
• Lightweight pre-grooved boards
• Ideal for whole house applications
• Fast response times
