How to make your own eco-friendly cleaning products

Making your own eco-friendly cleaning products not only saves you money, but they’re also kinder to both the environment and sensitive skin.

So, here’s a list of easy-to-mix and eco-friendly cleaning products that will cover all areas of the home.

Glass and window cleaner 

  • 2 cups of water
  • 1/2 cup of white or cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup of 70% rubbing alcohol

All-purpose cleaner 

  • 4 tablespoons of baking soda
  • 4 cups of warm water

Marble cleaner 

  • 1-2 drops of non-scented dishwasher liquid*
  • 2 cups of warm water

*lemon/acidic cleaners can eat into the stone, so make sure it’s non-scented.

Oven cleaner* 

  • 3-4 cups of baking soda
  • 1/4 cup of water

*for best results, leave the thick paste to set overnight

Bathroom mould and mildew* 

  • 1/2 cup of soda crystals
  • 1/2 cup of vinegar

*for best results, let the thick paste set for an hour and then scrub

Varnished furniture polish

  • 1-2 drops of lemon oil
  • 1/2 cup of warm water

Unvarnished furniture polish

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
